TIRED OF LIFE TAPPING YOU?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu · Palms, Los Angeles

The first jiu-jitsu co-op in the world — a gym made by its members, for its members.

The Co-op

No sensei.
No egos.
Just the mats.

The Coop is the first Brazilian jiu-jitsu co-op in the world — a gym made by its members, for its members. Founded by David Telfer and Alex Chow, black belts under Giva Santana, it runs on a simple idea: nobody owns the art.

Thirty-plus black belts lead daily workshops as their contribution, pricing covers the room, and every member shapes the place they train — from hosting an open mat to building the next event.

How it works

Four things that make it a co-op.

  1. 01

    Daily workshops, always optional

A different black belt on the board every day. Come for the workshop or just come to roll.

  2. 02

    Keys to the room

Members get 24/7 access whenever class isn't running. Arrive when you want; there's no such thing as late.

  3. 03

    Promoted by your peers

When three Coop black belts say you're ready, you're ready. Promotions from outside The Coop are honored too.

  4. 04

    Train how ya like

Gi and no-gi welcome at everything. Cross-train anywhere — good jiu-jitsu is good jiu-jitsu.
